PREPARATION FOR THE THIRD SEASON FEASTS: THE CONGREGATION OF PERGAMOS (Revelation 2:14-16)

The KING is in the FIELD! AWAKEN the BELIEVERS!

CONGREGATION THREE: PERGAMOS (Revelation 2:14-16)

MESSIAH YESHUA HAS A FEW THINGS AGAINST THE BELIEVERS OF PERGAMOS:

1. They have some people in the congregation who hold to the TEACHINGS of BALAAM, who TAUGHT Balak (the Moabite king who hired him to curse ISRAEL, the people of YHVH) to SET A TRAP for the PEOPLE of ISRAEL (al TWELVE TRIBES, including Joseph’s two sons Ephraim and Manasseh born in union with his Egyptian wife and the mixed multitude who left Egypt with them according to Exodus 12:38), so that they will:

• EAT FOOD SACRIFICED TO IDOLS (meaning participate in false religious customs), and

• COMMIT SEXUAL SIN.

• STANDING APART from the Satanic Babylonian RELIGION, cost the congregation in PERGAMOS the LIFE of YHVH’s FAITHFUL martyr Antipas. But in spite of this, the BELIEVERS failed to deal with those among them who held to the doctrine of Balaam and the Nicolaitans.

• The name Balaam means “without people.” BALAAM was a Gentile (therefore not from the TWELVE TRIBES of ISRAEL), who straddled the fence by taking a neutral position between YHVH the GOD of ISRAEL, whom he knew is ALMIGHTY and even received a PROPHECY of MESSIAH YEHSUA as we read in Numbers 24:17-19 and BALAK who was willing to pay him a large sum of money to curse YHVH’s people, and trying to KEEP both parties happy to his own benefit. He failed to stand with ISRAEL despite having received the REVELATION of YHVH’s CHOSEN people to whom MESSIAH would come and he PERSISTED in trying to bring ISRAEL down, simply because he was PAID to do so. Balaam therefore, cherished (valued, loved) the wages (money) that the king of Moab (Balak) gave him more than he cherished (valued, loved) the TRUTH given to him by YHVH through a prophecy. And in the end he led ISRAEL into trouble, by encouraging them to mix with the pagan MOABITES who TURNED them astray and encouraged them to adopt their PAGAN PRACTICES and SEXUAL IMMORALITY (read Numbers 22-25) 

• This ERROR is WARNED against in 2^nd Peter 2:13-22 and Jude 11, where covetousness (greed and envy), carousing (wild drinking parties/ festivals/ feast/ celebrations), adultery, sexual sin and financial gain through the promotion of sin, are utterly condemned.

• There are some people in the congregation of PERGAMOS who HOLD to the TEACHING (false doctrines) of the NICOLAITANS.

• Although they therefore held onto the NAME of MESSIAH YESHUA and did not give up their FAITH in HIM even when Antipas, one of their fellow believers was martyred, they unfortunately, unlike the congregation of EPHESUS, who hated what the Nicolaitans DO, which Messiah Yeshua also hates, succumbed to their FALSE DOCTRINES including:

• RECONCILING (marrying) PAGAN RELIGIOUS PRACTICES with their FAITH in YHVH their GOD and HIS INSTRUCTIONS in HIS WORD.

• They therefore mixed what YHVH commanded with the Nicoaitans PAGAN RITUALS (idol worship) and SEXUAL IMMORALITY, thereby corrupting the Congregation with false doctrines, including allowing sexual immorality, believing in hidden knowledge that only a few privileged people can attain (functioning like a type of secret society) and denying the virgin birth and divinity of Messiah Yeshua. They therefore worshiped YHVH their God with one foot in FAITH in HIM (in the Kingdom of Light) and one foot in the practices of the Satanic Babylonian RELIGION (in the kingdom of darkness). One could perhaps say, they ate from the TREE of GOOD and EVIL!

MESIAH YESHUA WARNS THEM TO:

1) TURN from these sins.

2) If they don’t, HE WILL COME to them VERY SOON and MAKE WAR against them with the SWORD from HIS MOUTH.

• This may indicate that, if they do not REPENT and TURN back to the TRUTH and PURE WORSHIP of YHVH their God, they will be considered as part of His ENEMIES and they may be DESTROYED during MESSIAH YEHSUA’s SECOND COMING when HE, THE WORD OF YHVH will COME and strike down the nations down with a SWORD (THE WORD) coming out of HIS MOUTH (Revelation 19:11-20 & 1 Corinthians 15:24-28).

In 716-717 AD PERGAMOS was attacked by Arabs and finally DESTROYED. This is a SERIOUS WARNING for ALL CONGREGATIONS and INDIVIDUAL BELIEVERS today which need to REPENT.

SOUL SEARCHING

1. Am I trying to WORSHIP and SERVE YHVH my GOD, while also holding on to the FALSE DOCTINES of BALAAM and the NICOLAITANS?

2. Do I understand that IF I DO, and I DO NOT REPENT, I am regarded by God the Father and Yeshua my Messiah as their enemy and I will be DESTROYED along with HIS ENEMIES at HIS SECOND COMING? (Revelation 20:11-20 & 1^st Corinthians 15:24-28).

RESTORATION AND ENCOURAGEMENT

• Consider DECIDING TODAY to TURN back to PURE FAITH in YHVH our GOD and following ONLY in the FOOTSTEPS of MESSIAH YESHUA with the help and guidance of the HOLY SPIRIT according to the TRUTH (the WORD of YHVH).
