THE GOSPELS: THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT: BEATITUDE 4, BLESSED are those who HUNGER and THIRST for RIGHTEOUSNESS, for they will be filled, Part 4

We are proceeding to study the SERMON of YESHUA on the MOUNT.
We are mainly reading from the Complete Jewish Study Bible – insight for Jews and Christians. We use the Hebrew letters for the name of God, YHVH (Yod-Heh-Vav-Heh) where the word LORD in English is indicated in capital letters in the Scriptures. The reason being that the Jewish writers removed the vowels in God’s name out of fear of transgressing the third Commandment of taking His Name in vain. And today there is a lot of controversy about the pronunciation of His Name. We also refer to Him as Abba Father and use the Hebrew Name Yeshua the Messiah instead of the English Name Jesus Christ translated from the Greek.
We are still studying the fourth BEATITUDE in Matthew 5:6 where Yeshua taught: “How BLESSED (meaning happy and fortunate) are those who HUNGER and THIRST for RIGHTEOUSNESS! For they will be FILLED.”
We are focusing on what the WORD teaches us on RIGHTEOUSNESS.
So far we have learned that:
- YHVH our GOD is a RIGHTEOUS and JUST GOD; and
- He CALLS believers to live in RIGHTEOUSNESS conforming to His principles, laws and statutes and to DO JUSTICE by practicing and maintaining what is good and right and uphold what is just and fair in accordance to His Word, thereby doing no harm to other people;
- How a RIGHTEOUS man and a RIGHTEOUS woman are defined in the Word serving as examples to us; and
- How we BECOME RIGHTEOUS men and woman of God, having FAITH in HIM and BEING FAITHFUL to HIM.
Yeshua our Messiah says in Matthew 5:6 those who HUNGER and THIRST for RIGHTEOUSNESS will be FILLED. So what does it mean to “hunger” and “thirst” for RIGHTEOUSNESS? In terms of our physical survival we need food and water so maybe to “hunger” and “thirst” for RIGHTEOUSNESS means to recognize our STRONG NEED for RIGHTEOUSNES to SURVIVE SPIRITUALLY! And Yeshua our Messiah promises us that when we hunger and thirst for righteousness (when we strongly long for it), we WILL BE FILLED, meaning, it WILL BE GIVEN to us.
So let’s explore the Word on this matter.
We read in Leviticus 26:3-5 and Deuteronomy 28:5 & 11-14 that abundant food and water are BLESSINGS of YHVH upon faithfulness to Him, therefore when we LISTEN to what He says and OBSERVE and OBEY ALL HIS COMMANDMENTS, He will provide for our physical needs. Also read confirmation in Yeshua’s words in Matthew 6:31-33.
In Psalm 42:1-2a we read “Just as a deer longs for running streams (of water), God, I long for You. I am thirsty for God, for the living God!”, and in Psalm 63:1 David says: “O God, You are my God; I will SEEK YOU eagerly. My HEART THIRST for YOU, my BODY LONGS for YOU in a land parched and exhausted (drained/ worn out), where no water can be found.”
And in Psalm 81:9-17 we read: “Hear My people while I GIVE you WARNING! ISRAEL, if you would only LISTEN to ME! There is not to be with you any foreign (small letter) god; you are not to worship an alien (unfamiliar, unknown, strange) god (this is in line with Commandments 1 and 2 of the TEN COMMANDMENTS). I AM YHVH your GOD, who brought you up from the Land of Egypt. OPEN your MOUTH, and I WILL FILL IT. But My people did not LISTEN to MY VOICE; ISRAEL would have none of Me. So I gave them over to their STUBBORN HEARTS, to live by their own plans. HOW I WISH MY PEOPLE WILL LISTEN TO ME, THAT ISRAEL WOULD LIVE BY MY WAYS! I would quickly subdue their enemies and turn My hand against their foes (enemies, opponents). Those who hate YHVH would cringe (cower, tremble, shrink) before Him, while ISRAEL’s time would last forever. They would be FED with the FINEST WHEAT, and I would SATISFY them with HONEY from the ROCK.” Both refer to Yeshua the Messiah as the Bread of Life that feeds us and the Word tasting as sweet as honey (Read John 6:35 and Psalm 19:10-11 and 119:103).
Psalm 107 is a thanksgiving song of the saved and we read in verses 8-9 “Let them GIVE THANKS to YHVH for HIS GRACE, for HIS WONDERS bestowed on humanity! For HE has SATISFIED the HUNGRY (soul) filled the STARVING (soul) with that which is GOOD.” In Psalm 119:20 NIV David says: “My soul (heart, mind and free will) is consumed with longing for Your LAWS (rules, commandments, decrees) at ALL TIMES.”
And David describes it beautifully in Psalm 143 saying: “YHVH hear my prayer; listen to my pleas for mercy. In your FAITHFULNESS, answer me, and in Your RIGHTEOUSNESS. Don’t bring me to trial, since in Your sight no one alive would be considered RIGHTEOUS. For an enemy is pursuing me; he has crushed my life into the ground and left me to live in darkness, like those who have been long dead. My spirit faints within me; my heart is appalled (dismayed, discouraged, depressed) within me. I remember the days of old, reflecting on all Your deeds, thinking about the work of Your hands. I spread out my hands to You, I long for You like a THRISTY LAND. Answer me quickly YHVH, because my spirit is fainting (collapsing, failing, in trouble). Don’t hide Your face (Your presence) from me, or I will be like those who drop down into a pit. Make me hear of YOUR LOVE in the morning, because I RELY on YOU. MAKE me KNOW the WAY I SHOULD WALK, because I entrust myself to You. YHVH, RESCUE me from my enemies; I have hidden myself with You. TEACH me TO DO YOUR WILL, BECAUSE YOU ARE my GOD. LET YOUR GOOD SPIRIT GUIDE me on ground that is level. For Your Name’s sake YHVH, preserve my LIFE; in YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS, bring me out of distress (suffering, pain, sorrow, misery). In Your grace, cut off my enemies; destroy all those harassing, me; because I am Your servant.”
And this WORD of GOD for which David so longed is also able and available to satisfy our HUNGRY and STARVING SOULS (our hearts and minds, leading our free will into making righteous and just choices benefitting our lives and those of others). We must however understand it will not be available to us indefinitely if we keep on rejecting it as God warns us in Amos 8:11-13 saying: “The TIME is COMING says YHVH ELOHIM (the triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit) when I will send FAMINE over the land, not a FAMINE of bread or a THIRST for water, but of HEARING THE WORDS OF YHVH. People will stagger (stumble) from sea to sea and from north to east, running back and forth, SEEKING THE WORD OF YHVH; but they will not find it. When that TIME COMES, young women and men will faint from THIRST. Those who swear by the sin of Samaria (referring to the Northern Kingdom, the Ten Tribes under Ephraim who committed grave idolatry under their ungodly kings), who say, ‘As your god, Dan, lives’ (Dan was part of the Ten Tribes under Ephraim and they were also the first tribe to set up for themselves an idol as we read in Judges 18:30), and, ‘As the way of Beersheba lives (in the time of Amos Beersheba became a centre of false worship) – they will FALL and NEVER get up again.”
Also read Psalm 74:9, Lamentation 2:9, Ezekiel 7:26, and Malachi 2:7 where it is indicated as a FAMINE when the LAW, (the TORAH, Genesis to Deuteronomy, summed up in the TEN COMMANDMENTS) of GOD is no more (therefore no longer implemented, rejected by men) there are no more prophets to communicate the TRUE WORD of GOD (only false prophets remain) and no priests (no shepherds and teachers) who safe guards knowledge and truth as messengers of God, there will be calamity (disaster, tragedy, ruin) followed by calamity. We also read in Daniel chapter 12 where Daniel is informed by angels of God about the end times and they tell him to seal up the information (to keep it secret) until the end, which can be interpreted as the time of the SECOND COMING of Messiah Yeshua, and many will then rush here and there to increase knowledge, which seems to be in line with the EXPLOSION of KNOWLEDGE on the WORD which we are currently experiencing via the Internet but must be careful to TEST against the WORD of GOD to ensure that it is the TRUTH.
Amos was a shepherd who served as a prophet of JUSTICE, RIGHTEOUSNESS and ACCOUNTABILITY and God used him to warn ISRAEL (the Northern Kingdom, the Ten Tribes under Ephraim) of the devastating influence and consequences of misplaced faith, idolatry and reliance on false religious practices which will inevitably result in a downfall if we fail to REPENT and turn back to TRUE WORSHIP. And we must understand if we postpone in doing it, there will come a TIME when we will have difficulty, if not impossibility to FIND the TRUTH of GOD’s WORD since HE HIMSELF is going to REMOVE IT! Therefore the TIME TO FIND HIM IS NOW, TODAY! (Also read Psalm 95:7-8 and Hebrews 3:15 encouraging us saying: ‘TODAY if you HEAR HIS VOICE, do not harden your hearts”, therefore don’t postpone and don’t delay).
In Matthew 4:4, Yeshua our Messiah reminds Satan in His battle with him in the desert where He faced physical hunger for 40 days what was written in Deuteronomy 8:1-2 namely: “All the mitzvoth (the Hebrew word for COMMANDMENTS) I AM GIVING you TODAY, you are to TAKE CARE TO OBEY, so that you WILL LIVE, increase your numbers, enter and take possession of the land YHVH swore about to your ancestors. You are to REMEMBER EVERYTHING of THE WAY in which YHVH LED you these FORTY YEARS in the DESERT, humbling and testing you in order to KNOW WHAT WAS IN your heart – whether you would obey HIS mitzvoth (His Commandments) or not. And we read specifically in verse 3: “HE humbled you, allowing you to become HUNGRY, and then FED you with MANNA (that is bread from heaven, a picture of YESHUA the LIVING BREAD, THE WORD of GOD as we read in John 6:30-59), which neither you nor your ancestors had ever known, to MAKE you understand that A PERSON DOES NOT LIVE ON FOOD ALONE but ON EVERYTHING (EVERY WORD) that COMES from the MOUTH OF YHVH.”
Yeshua our Messiah said in John 6:35 “I AM the BREAD (the LIVING WORD of GOD the FATHER) which IS LIFE! Whoever comes to ME will never go HUNGRY and whoever TRUSTS (have faith, believe, hope) in ME will never be THIRSTY.” And in John 6:51-57 He explains: “I AM the LIVING BREAD that has COME DOWN from HEAVEN; if anyone eats this bread, he will live forever. Furthermore, the BREAD that I WILL GIVE is MY OWN FLESH; and I will GIVE IT for the life of the world…I tell you that unless you EAT the FLESH of the SON of MAN and DRINK HIS BLOOD, you do not have LIFE in yourselves. Whoever EATS MY FLESH and DRINKS MY BLOOD has ETERNAL LIFE – that is, I will raise him up on the LAST DAY and he will LIVE FOREVER (so here He was alluding to the full price of death He will pay by giving up HIS LIFE and shedding HIS PRECIOUS BLOOD on behalf of the sins committed by all mankind and those who accepts this price paid on their behalf, will be raised up at HIS SECOND COMING as we read in Matthew 24:29-31 and 1st Thessalonians 4:13-18). For MY FLESH is TRUE FOOD, and MY BLOOD is TRUE DRINK. Whoever eats MY FLESH and DRINKS MY BLOOD lives IN ME, and I live IN him. Just as the LIVING FATHER sent ME, and I LIVE THROUGH THE FATHER, so also whoever EATS ME will live through ME. (Also read Luke 1:53, John 4:10, Isaiah 49:10 and Revelation 7:16-17).
It is also confirmed in John 11:23-26 when Yeshua went to raise up Lazarus, the brother of Martha and Mary and Martha said: “I know that he will rise again at the RESURECTION on the LAST DAY (that is the FIRST RESURECTION we read about in Revelation 20:4-6). And Yeshua said to her: ‘I AM the RESURECTION and the LIFE! Whoever puts his TRUST (FAITH) in ME will live, even if he dies; and everyone LIVING and TRUSTING (having faith) in ME will never die.”
God the Father tells His people ISRAEL through the mouths of His prophets, like Isaiah 44:3 saying: “For I will pour WATER on the THIRSTY LAND and streams on the dry ground; I will pour MY SPIRIT on your descendants, MY BLESSING on your offspring” The Jewish Study Bible explains that ISRAEL (the Northern Kingdom, the Ten Tribes under Ephraim) was being called to RETURN to the TORAH (Genesis to Deuteronomy, summed up in the Ten Commandments) of YHVH, to make teshuvah (repentance) and thus RETURN to the ONE who made them.
We also read in Deuteronomy 32:6 YHVH saying to the WHOLE HOUSE of ISRAEL (including all 12 tribes and Joseph’s two Egyptian born sons Ephraim and Manasseh and the mixed multitude who went with them according to Exodus 12:38) in the desert through Moses: “He (YHVH) is your FATHER, who made you! It was He who FORMED and PREPARED you!. So therefore it is clear that we can also claim these promises for us when we graft into the tree of Israel through our FAITH in Yeshua our Messiah (as explained by Paul in Romans 11:17 and Galatians 5:14-16) as well as OBEY the GOD’s LAW of LOVE, His Torah, summed up in the TEN COMMANDMENTS (read John 14:15-21, John 15:9-10 and 1st John 5:3).
And in Joel 2:28 we read: “…I will pour out MY SPIRIT on ALL HUMANITY. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions; and also on male and female servants in those days I will POUR out MY SPIRIT.” And when we read the verses following in chapter 3 it is clear that it will happen shortly before Judgement Day. In Acts 2:18 Peter quote Joel 2:28 during the outpouring of the HOLY SPIRIT at the first Pentecost after the crucifixion, resurrection and ascension of Messiah Yeshua. In the Tanakh (the Old Testament) time only certain individuals with specific callings like Moses and the seventy leaders who assisted him (read Numbers 11:16-17) or people requiring specific skills, like Bezalel who had to make the Tabernacle equipment and construct the Tabernacle in accordance to the plan God gave Moses on Mount Sinai, (read Exodus 31:2-5 and 35:30-35), and the prophets, prophesying the Word of God on His command received the Holy Spirit. In the New Testament God however brings to pass what Moses prayed for in Numbers 11:29 that YHVH will put His Spirit on ALL His people. And we see in the WORDS of Yeshua our Messiah prior to His ascension as quoted in Acts 1:8 that just as in the Old Testament, the reason for receiving the HOLY SPIRIT in the NEW TESTAMENT is still to DO the WORK of the KINGDOM as He told the apostles: “…you will receive POWER when the Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit) comes upon you; you will be MY WITHESSESS both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, indeed to the ENDS of the earth!”
We also read in John 4:10-14 in Yeshua’s discussion with the woman at the well in a town of Samaria: “If you knew God’s gift, that is, who is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink of water’, then you would have asked Him; and He would have given you LIVING WATER…whoever DRINKS the WATER I will GIVE him will never be thirsty again! On the contrary, the WATER I GIVE him will become a SPRING of WATER inside him, WELLING UP into ETERNAL LIFE! And in verse 24 He tells her: “God (the Father) is SPIRIT; and worshippers must worship Him in SPIRIT (through the HOLY SPIRIT) and in TRUTH (that is in obedience to the TRUTH in HIS WORD which is represented by Yeshua the Messiah who IS the WORD of God the Father).
In verses 27-38 we then see the disciples returning and being concerned that Yeshua had not eaten yet after a long journey with them from Judea to Samaria on their way to Galilee and Yeshua answered them in verses 34-38 “I have FOOD to EAT that you don’t know about…, My FOOD is to DO what the ONE who sent Me wants and to bring MY WORK to COMPLETION. Don’t you have a saying, ‘Four months and then the HARVEST (please note this, in the SEVEN FEASTS of YHVH as written in Leviticus 24, is the FOUR months before the HARVEST falling between FEAST FOUR of YHVH, THE FEAST of PENTECOST (Shavuot in Hebrew and therefore the outpouring of the Holy Spirit as we read in Acts chapters 1-2) and FEAST FIVE of YHVH: THE FEAST of TRUMPETS representing the SECOND COMING of YESHUA the MESSIAH and the FIRST RESURRECTION of BELIEVERS (the FIRST FRUIT of the HARVEST) as indicated in 1st Corinthians 15:23, James 1:18 and Revelation 14:4).”
And we further read in John 4:35b-38: “Well, what I say to you is: open your eyes and look at the FIELDS! They’re already ripe for HARVEST! The one who REAPS RECEIVES his WAGES and GATHERS FRUIT (souls) for ETERNAL LIFE, so that the REAPER and the SOWER may be glad together – for in this matter the Proverb, one SOWS and another REAPS, holds true. I sent you to REAP what you haven’t work for. Others have done the hard labor, and you have benefited from their work.
Paul refers to this when he explains the different callings of believers in 1st Corinthians 3:6-11 “I planted the SEED, and Apollos WATERED it, but it was God who made it GROW. So, neither the planter nor the waterer is anything, only God who makes things grow – planter and waterer are the same. However, each will be rewarded according to his work. For we are God’s co-workers; you are God’s field, God’s building. Using the grace God gave me, I laid a foundation, like a skilled-master builder; and another man is building on it. But let each one be careful how he builds. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Yeshua the Messiah.”
So, Messiah Yeshua was asking the disciples in John 4, why they were concerned about earthly food, food that only sustains the temporary body but means nothing in eternity? Their real concern should be to PROVIDE SPIRITUAL FOOD to the SPIRITUAL HUNGRY people around them to ensure their names are written in the BOOK of LIFE before the approaching JUDGEMENT DAY of GOD the FATHER! Because that is what the FOUR MONTHS between the FEAST of PENTECOST (the outpouring of the HOLY SPIRIT) and the FEAST of TRUMPETS are all about – using our GIFTS and CALLINGS to bring in the HARVEST of SOULS for the KINGDOM of GOD the FATHER! And ensuring we receive our REWARDS as GOOD and FAITHFUL SERVANTS of the KINGDOM on Yeshua our Messiah and MASTER’s return as represented by the DAY of ATONEMENT, FEAST SIX of YHVH and that we may enter into the THOUSAND YEAR KINGDOM and REIGN with Him as PRIESTS as indicated in 1st Peter 2:9, Revelation 1:6 and Revelation 20:6, represented by the FEAST of TABERNACKLES, FEAST SEVEN of YHVH. And after the GREAT WHITE THRONE JUDGMENT on the EIGHT DAY of the FEAST of TABERNACKLES, representing he SECOND RESURECTION of the dead (Revelation 20:11-15), being able to enter ETERNITY in the NEW JERUSALEM on the NEW HEAVEN and EARTH (Revelation chapters 21-22).
And in John chapter 7 Yeshua is at the celebration of the FEAST of TABERNACKLES in Jerusalem and on the: LAST DAY of the FEAST (therefore the EIGHT DAY as instructed in Leviticus 23:36) He says to the people as written in John 7:37-39 “If anyone is THIRSTY, let him come to Me and DRINK. Whoever put his TRUST (faith, hope) in Me, as the Scripture says (referring to the Old Testament prophecies like Isaiah 44:3), RIVERS of LIVING WATER will flow from his inmost being (soul consisting of the heart and mind and spirit). Now He said this about the (Holy) Spirit, whom those who TRUSTED (had FAITH, BELIEVED) in Him were to receive later (meaning after His crucifixion, burial, resurrection and ascension, because at the time He declared this) – the (Holy) Spirit had not been given, because Yeshua had not yet been glorified.
It is indicated in Zechariah 14:16-19 that the FEAST of TABERNACKLES will still be celebrated during the THOUSAND-YEAR REIGN OF MESSIAH YESHUA, the reason being that the LAST DAY of this FEAST will only take place at the end of the THOUSAND-YEAR REIGN as explained in Revelation chapter 20. (Also read the prophecies in Isaiah 44:3 & 55:1). And up to the very end of the WORD we are REMINDED of this important fact, the resurrected Yeshua Messiah appearing to John as written in the Book of Revelation tells him in Revelation 21:6-7 “It is done! I AM the Alef (in Hebrew, the Alpha in Greek) and the Tav (in Hebrew, the Omega in Greek), (meaning) the Beginning and the End. To anyone who is THIRSTY I MYSELF will GIVE WATER free of charge from the FOUNTAIN of LIFE. He who wins the victory will receive these things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son.” The Jewish Study Bible explains that the sinless condition of the Garden of Eden will be restored in eternity. Creation which has been groaning with the pains of childbirth will be set free from its bondage to decay. It will enjoy the freedom accompanying the glory that God’s children will have (also read Romans 8:19-23), thus fulfilling the prophecy of God creating NEW HEAVENS and a NEW EARTH of Isaiah 65:17-19.
And in the last chapter of Revelation 22:16-17 our Messiah again invites ALL people with the following words: I, Yeshua sent My angel to give you this testimony for the MESSIANIC COMMUNITIES. I AM the ROOT and OFFSPRING of DAVID, the BRIGHT MORNING STAR. The (Holy) Spirit and the Bride say, ‘Come!’ Let EVERYONE who hears say, ‘Come!’ (that includes all believers who have a responsibility to CALL those who have not heard the invitation yet!). And let ANYONE who is THIRSTY COME – let ANYONE WHO WISHES (anyone who wants to!), TAKE the WATER of LIFE free of charge.”
But let’s return to RIGHTEOUSNESS and explore the reason why the WORD calls it a FRUIT!
Isaiah chapter 32 is a prophesy about the THOUSAND-YEAR REIGN of PEACE of the MESSIAH and a call to distinguish between TRUE and false complacency “…till the (Holy) Spirit is POURED out on us from above, and the desert becomes a FERTILE FIELD regarded as a FOREST. Then JUSTICE will dwell in the desert, and RIGHTEOUSNESS abide in the FERTILE FIELD. The effect of RIGHTEOUSNESS will be PEACE; the RESULT of RIGHTEOUSNESS, quiet TRUST (FAITH) FOREVER. My people will LIVE in a PEACEFUL PLACE, in SECURE NEIGHBOURHOODS and TRANQUAL DWELLINGS.” (Isaiah 32:15-17). It is therefore CLEAR, only when we RECEIVE the HOLY SPIRIT of GOD, we are able to apply JUSTICE and RIGHTEOUSNESS with the result of LIVING in PEACE. And this will only fully be fulfilled in the THOUSAND-YEAR KINGDOM of PEACE of MESSIAH YEHSUA and thereafter in ETERNITY on the NEW HEAVEN and EARTH.
James explains it as follows in James 3:18 “…the WISDOM from above (received from God through His Holy Spirit), is first of all PURE, then PEACEFUL, KIND, OPEN to REASON, FULL of MERCY and GOOD FRUITS, without partiality and without hypocrisy. And PEACEMAKERS who SOW SEED in PEACE raise a HARVEST of RIGHTEOUSNESS. So RIGHTEOUSNESS is regarded by the WORD as BOTH a FRUIT and a SEED that can be SOWN, producing a HARVEST of RIGHTEOUSNESS!
And just as Yeshua our Messiah tells us in Matthew 5:6 if we HUNGER and THIRST for RIGHTEOUSNESS, we will be FILLED, HE will POUR out the HOLY SPIRIT on us, enabling us to LIVE RIGHTEOUS LIVES – BELIEVING, having FAITH in YESHUA our MESSIAH and OBEYING the WORD.
Then one is able to understand UNRIGHTEOUSNESS is also a FRUIT – and those who do not BELIEVE what GOD says and are therefore disobedient to HIS COMMANDMENTS are eating the FRUIT of UNRIGHTEOUSNESS! And it is exactly this UNRIGHTEOUSS FRUIT that Adam and Eve ate in the Garden of Eden under the influence of the lies of the enemy as we read in Genesis 3:1-7.
The Holy Spirit explains it through the prophet Hosea as follows in Hosea 10:12 saying “if you SOW RIGHTEOUSNESS for yourselves (if you BELIEVE and OBEY what God says and DO what He says), you will REAP according to GRACE (His unfailing LOVE). Break up unused (unploughed) ground for yourselves (break up the hard ground of your heart which cannot be sowed upon), because it is TIME to SEEK YHVH, till He comes and RAIN down RIGHTEOUSNESS on you (if we SEEK HIM in HIS WORD and are prepared to LISTEN to HIM and OBEY what HE SAYS, He will GIVE us His Holy Spirit, the LIVING WATER we need to preparing the soil of our HEATS and MINDS to receive the SEED of God’s Word and produce a HARVEST of RIGHTEOUSNESS – spreading HIS WORD to other people via the special gifs and callings He gave each of us).”
But we are also warned in Hosea 10:13-14 “You have ploughed (cultivated, sowed) wickedness, reaped (acquired) iniquity (evil, sin) and eaten the FRUIT of LIES (you have been deceived!). Because you TRUSTED (believed, had faith) in your own way, in your large number of warriors/ multitudes of mighty men (putting your trust in people whom you think will protect and help you), turmoil will ERUPT among your peoples (among your life/ family/ household), and all your FORTRESSESS (all our safe places that we are busy building to protect ourselves and our people on sand and not on GOD, our ROCK) will be DESTROYED;” (Also read Romans 6:22).
So now we know, when we are under the influence of the HOLY SPIRIT, we eat the FRUIT of RIGHTEOUSNESS in faith and obedience to GOD’s WORD and it will lead to becoming SPIRITUALLY ALIVE while still on earth, leading live in abundance and eventually the FIRST RESURECTION and ETERNAL LIVE. But when we are under the influence of the serpent (Satan and his evil forces) we eat the FRUIT of UNRGHTEOUSNESS in unbelief and disobedience to God’s WORD, trusting in our own way, in our own plans and resources leading to SPIRITUAL DEATH and a live of DESTRUCTION and PAIN on earth and eventually the SECOND RESURECTION and SECOND DEATH in the LAKE of FIRE, also called ETERNAL DEATH. The GOOD NEWS is: The Holy SPIRIT (the LIVING WATER of GOD), is available free of charge to EVERYONE who is thirsty and wants it as we read in Revelation 22:17. Therefore we can still choose LIVE today!
Paul says to the believers in Philippians 1:9-11: “And this is my prayer: that your LOVE may more and more overflow in fullness of knowledge and depth of discernment (remember Paul explained what LOVE is in Romans 13:8-14 and 1st Corinthians 13), so that you will be able to determine what is best and thus be pure (unadulterated, unpolluted, uncontaminated by sin’s decay, clean) and without blame (guilt, liability) for THE DAY of the MESSIAH – to the glory and praise of God the Father FILLED WITH THE FRUIT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS (believing and obeying the Word) that comes through Yeshua the Messiah (remember He is the only WAY to the FATHER, the TRUTH and LIFE, John 14:6).”
THE FRUIT of RIGHTEOUSNESS – is therefore something that we can eat to still our spiritual hunger and thirst, just like our Messiah Yeshua said! Paul sums it up nicely in Romans 14:17 “…for the KINGDOM of GOD is not (physical) eating and drinking, but RIGHTEOUSNESS (believing and obeying the Word), SHALOM (peace) and JOY in the RUACH HaKODESH (the Holy Spirit). Anyone who serves the Messiah in this fashion both pleases God (the Father) and wins the approval of other people.”
And in 2nd Timothy 3:15-17 Paul confirms: “…recalling too how from childhood you have known the HOLY SCRIPTURES, which can give you the WISDOM (understanding and knowledge) that leads to DELIVERANCE (freedom) through TRUSTING (having faith) in Yeshua the Messiah. All scripture is GOD-BREATHED and is valuable for TEACHING the TRUTH, CONVICTING of SIN, CORRECTING FAULTS and TRAINING in RIGHTEOUSNESS (in right living according to the Word of God/ being blameless/ innocent); thus anyone who BELONGS to GOD (the FATHER) may be fully equipped (prepared, armed) for every good work (equipped to execute our callings in bringing in the HARVEST of the KINGDOM!).
In Colossians 3:16 Paul explains it as follows: “…let the WORD of the MESSIAH, in all its richness, LIVE IN you, as you TEACH and COUNCEL each other in all WISDOM (understanding and knowledge) and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs of gratitude to God (the Father) in your hearts.
When FAITH grows abundantly, people will IMPLEMENT the WORD and the result will be RIGHTEOUSNESS and an INCREASE in LOVE in accordance to God’s definition of LOVE – doing no harm to others, and doing to them as you would like them to do unto you (Read 2 Thessalonians 1:3).
AND THE FRUIT of RIGHTEOUSNESS is produces through DISCIPLINE! We read in Hebrews 12:11 “…all DISCIPLINE, while it is happening, does indeed seem painful, not enjoyable; but for those who have been TRAINED by it, it later produces its PEACEFUL FRUIT, which is RIGHTEOUSNESS.”
