WAKE-UP CALL: Part 5 – Come out of Babylon! HEAR THE WORD, UNDERSTAND IT and BEAR FRUIT – The EXAMPLES of NOAH and LOT

We are proceeding in our study on what Yeshua our Messiah explained in His PARABLE on the SOWER and the SEED in Matthew 13:1-23 (also read Mark 4:1-20 and Luke 8:4-15). And we are still focusing on THOSE BELIEVERS WHO SUCCEED TO COME OUT OF BABYLON because they are able to:

HEAR the MESSAGE, the GOOD NEWS of the KINGDOM of YHVH, UNDERSTAND it and BEAR FRUIT, a HUNDRED or SIXTY or THRITY TIMES what was sown.

Yeshua our Messiah told us that He will come again in a time SIMILAR to that of Noah and Lot. Read Luke 17:26-30.

So now that we have a better UNDERSTANDING of what RIGHTEOUSNESS is according to the WORD of ABBA FATHER, let’s look at NOAH and LOT as TWO EXAMPLES for us on RIGHTEOUSS living in our time.

1. NOAH

We read about Noah in Genesis 5:28-29, namely that Lamech at 182 years fathered a son, whom he called NOAH (meaning “restful”); for he said, ‘This one will comfort us in our labor, in the hard work we do with our hands (to get what comes) from the ground that YHVH cursed.’” Therefore referring to Genesis 3:17-18 because Adam had chosen to listen to his wife and eat from the tree of good and evil instead of listening to God’s WORDS and on account of this God cursed the ground to produce thorns and thistles and Adam as well as his descendants had to work hard to eat from it as long as he lived.

We read in Genesis 6:5 that YHVH saw that the people on earth were very wicked, and all their thoughts were continually evil and it grieved (saddened) His heart and He regretted that He made humankind. Therefore He decided to wipe them out, humans, animals, creeping things and the birds of the air. We read in verses 11-12 “The earth was corrupt (immoral/ wicked, unethical/ unprincipled, dishonest/ deceitful, fraudulent) before God; the earth was filled with violence (a destructive force intended to hurt, damage or kill). God saw the earth, and, yes, it was corrupt; for all living beings had corrupted their ways on the earth.”

And then we read in Genesis 6:8-9 “But NOAH found GRACE in the sight of YHVH…In His generation, NOAH was a man RIGHTEOUS (virtuous, moral, good, just, honorable, honest, blameless) and WHOLEHEARTED (committed, dedicated, loyal, devoted, steadfast, faithful).” And God then explained to Noah in verse 13 that He is going to DESTROY ALL LIVING BEINGS because they filled the earth with violence. And in verses 14-16 God gives NOAH detail instructions on the BUILDING of THE ARK. And in verse 18 God says to Noah: “…I will ESTABLISH MY COVENANT with you; you will COME INTO THE ARK, you, your sons (Shem, Ham and Japheth, read Genesis 5:32 and 6:10), your wife and your sons’ wives with you.

God then told Noah in verses 19-21: “From everything living, from each kind of living being, you are to bring two into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they are to be male and female. Of each kind of bird, each kind of livestock, and each kind of animal creeping on the ground, TWO ARE TO COME TO YOU, so that they can be kept alive. Also take all kinds of FOOD that are eaten, and collect it for yourself; it is to be food for you and for them.”

And in verse 22 we read: “This is what NOAH DID; he DID ALL that GOD ORDERED HIM TO DO.” Noah, considered by God as a RIGHTEOUSS MAN, therefore CHOSE to OBEY the WORD of GOD because he BELIEVED (trust, have faith) in what GOD said.

James tells us in James 1:22 “Don’t deceive yourselves by ONLY HEARING what THE WORD says, but DO IT!” (Also read Romans 2:13). And in James 2:14-26 James explains that without DEEDS proving our FAITH, FAITH is DEAD, meaning there is no proof of faith in such a person’s life. So if we BELIEVE, we WILL ACT according to what we believe. Paul explains it in Romans 1:17 as follows: “For in it (in FAITH) is REVEALED how God makes people RIGHTEOUS in HIS SIGHT; and from beginning to end it is through TRUST (FAITH, BELIEF, HOPE) as the Tanakh (the Old Testament) puts it (referring to Habakkuk 2:4), ‘But the person who is RIGHTEOUS will LIVE his LIFE by TRUST (FAITH, BELIEVE, HOPE/ TRUSTING FAITHFULNESS/ TRUTHFULNESS).’” Paul tells us in Romans 4:13 RIGHTEOUNESS is PRODUCED by TRUST (FAITH, BELIEVE, HOPE). We can therefore say RIGHTEONESS is a FRUIT of FAITH, the EVIDENCE that we BELIEVE is LIVING in OBEDIENCE to WHAT GOD SAYS IN HIS WORD!

Then in Genesis 7:1 YHVH said to Noah: “Come into the ark, you and ALL your household; for I have seen that you alone in this generation are RIGHTEOUSS before Me (meaning, only Noah was willing to DO what is RIGTH in YHVH’s eyes, even if no one else wanted to or believed the WORDS of YHVH). And in verses 2-3 God instructed Noah: “Of every clean animal you are to take SEVEN couples, and of the animals that are not clean, one couple; also of the birds in the air take SEVEN couples – in order to PRESERVE their species throughout the earth.” And God again explained and confirmed to Noah what is going to happen in verse 4: “For in SEVEN more days I will cause it to rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights; I will wipe out every living thing that I have made from the face of the earth.” And then we see the SAME words in Genesis 7:5 as in Genesis 6:22 namely: Noah DID ALL that YHVH ORDERED HIM TO DO. So again we see NOAH CHOSE to OBEY the WORD of GOD.

And we then read in verses 6-8 Noah was 600 years old when the waters flooded the earth and he and his family and all the animals, birds and creeping things went into the ark and again the words in verse 9 and 16a: “…as GOD HAD ORDERED NOAH.

And in verse 16b – 17 we read after Noah, his family and all the animals and living things went in to the ARK “Then YHVH shut (locked, sealed) them inside” and the flood was forty days on the earth. We then see in Genesis 8:13-19 when Noah was 601 years old, therefore after ONE YEAR and ONE DAY (366 days), the water had dried up and Noah and his family and all the animals and creeping things and birds could safely leave the ark.

Thereafter we see in Genesis 9:1 “God BLESSED Noah and his sons and said to them, ‘Be FRUITFUL, multiply and fill the earth.’” And in verses 9-17 God ESTABLISHED HIS COVENANT with Noah and his sons and all living beings that He will never again destroy the earth with the waters of a flood. And as a SIGN of the COVENANT for all generations to come He put a RAINBOW in the clouds which will REMIND HIM of HIS ERVERLASTING COVENANT.

And then, as also discussed in a previous message, we see Noah sinned. We read about it in Genesis 9:20-21 that Noah was a FARMER, and the first to plant a vineyard. He drank so much of the wine that he got drunk and lay uncovered in his tent, creating an opportunity for sin crouching at the door of Ham who saw his father and CHOSE to expose his nakedness.

This is to REMIND us although Noah was a RIGHTEOUSS MAN, OBEYING the WORD of GOD, Noah was not perfect – just as none of us are – the WORD of YHVH tells us that ALL OF US ARE SINNERS and in need of a SAVIOR (Romans 3:23).

This is therefore confirmation that although we may be viewed as RIGHTEOUSS men and woman, because we are OBEDIENT to GOD’s WORD, we still commit accidental sins and need to follow the REPENTANCE PROCESS as indicated in 1st John 1:1-10.  And therefore, we need to STAY HUMBLE and REMEMBER, not to boast about our RIGHETEOUSNESS like Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 1:31 as well as 2 Corinthians 10:17 as the Tanakh (the Old Testament) says (referring to Jeremiah 9:23-24) ‘Let anyone who wants to boast, boast about YHVH.’” (Also read Psalm 34:2).

We again read about NOAH in Ezekiel chapter 14. This chapter warns about punishment for the LEADERS of ISRAEL that have taken their idols into their hearts, thus setting in front of themselves the STUMBLING BLOCK that leads to sin. And YHVH said in verse 5b EVERYONE in THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL (that is the Northern Kingdom, the Ten Tribes under Ephraim including the mixed multitude that left Egypt with them in accordance to Exodus 12:38), who takes idols into their HEARTS setting in front of them STUMBLING BLOCKS that leads to sin, have through their idols ALL FALLEN AWAY from YHVH (meaning they became UNFAITHFUL to HIM).

We then read in verses 6-8 “Therefore, say to the HOUSE of ISRAEL, that YHVH ELOHIM (meaning GOD in plural form therefore relating to the TRIUNE God we see from Genesis 1, namely God the Father, God the WORD/ also called God the Son/ Yeshua the Messiah and God the Spirit, three independent parts but ONE GOD with one BODY, SOUL and SPIRIT), says, ‘REPENT!’ (apologize with remorse/ ask forgiveness). TURN yourselves from your idols, turn your faces AWAY from ALL your disgusting (revolting, repulsive, filthy) practices! For EVERYONE, whether from the HOUSE of ISRAEL (the Northern Kingdom, the Ten Tribes under Ephraim), or a FOREIGNER (people not originating from the Twelve Tribes of Israel, but WHO GRAFTED in to ISRAEL and accepted YHVH as their God), living in ISRAEL, who separates himself from Me and takes idols into his HEART, this setting in front of himself the stumbling block that leads to sin…I will set MY FACE against that person, make him a WARNING SIGN and an EXAMPLE, and CUTT him OFF from MY PEOPLE. Then you will know that I AM YHVH.”

And the reason is given to us in verse 11 “so that the HOUSE of ISRAEL (the Northern Kingdom, including the foreigners who rafted in to Israel) will no longer wander away from Me and DEFILE themselves with all their crimes; rather, they will be MY PEOPLE, and I will be their GOD, ‘says YHVH ELOHIM. And then we read in verses 12-13 “The WORD of YHVH came to me (Ezekiel): “Human being, when a LAND SINS against Me by dealing treacherously (deceitfully, unfaithfully, disloyally) with Me, so that I stretch out MY HAND over it and BREAK OFF ITS FOOD SUPPLY, sending it FAMINE and ELIMINATING both its humans and its animals;.” And then we read in verses 14-20 the REFFERENCE TO NOAH, DANIEL and JOB, saying:

  • “’Even if these THREE MEN were in it (in the land) – NOAH, DANIEL and JOB – they would by their RIGHTEOUSNESS save only themselves’ says YHVH ELOHIM.” (Ezekiel 14:14).
  • “’If I UNLEASH WILD BEASTS on the land, and they KILL its children and DESOLATE (abandon, forsake) it, so that no one can pass through because of the animals; even if these THREE MEN were in it, as I LIVE’, says YHVH ELOHIM, ‘they would save neither sons, nor daughters; only they themselves would be saved, and the land would remain barren.” (Ezekiel 14:15-16).
  • “Or if I bring the SWORD down on the land, saying, ‘let the sword pass through the land’; so that I eliminate both its humans and its animals; even if these THREE MEN were in it, as I LIVE’, says YHVH ELOHIM, ‘they would save neither sons, nor daughters ; only they themselves would be saved.”(Ezekiel 14:17-18).
  • “If I BRING a PLAGUE into that land, and pour out MY fury on it in BLOODSHED, so that I eliminate both its humans and its animals; even if NOAH, DANIEL and JOB were in it, as I LIVE, says YHVH ELOHIM, ‘they would save neither a son nor a daughter; they would be save only themselves by their RIGHTEOUSNESS.” (Ezekiel 14:19-20).

In Ezekiel chapter 18 God again explains it to Ezekiel, that the person who IS RIGHTEOUSS, WHO DOES what is LAWFUL and RIGHT and ACT FAITHFULLY WILL CERTAINLY LIVE as opposed to the person who CHOOSES to WILLFULLY (deliberately, intentionally, maliciously) SIN and deserves death.

So this is a CLEAR WARNING: ONLY THE RIGHTEOUSS WILL BE SAVED! Only those:

  1. WHO CHOOSE TO ACCEPT YESHUA the MESSIAH as THEIR SAVIOR (represented by the LID of the ARK of the COVENANT, THE MERCY SEAT); and
  2. FOLLOW the EXAMPLE of YESHUA our MESSIAH with the help of the HOLY SPIRIT in OBEYING THE WORD OF YHVH (represented by the ARK of the COVENANT with the summary of the TORAH, God’s WORD in Genesis to Deuteronomy as summed up in the Ten Commandments in it, written on a BELIEVER’s HEART) will be saved and ENTER the KINGDOM of YHVH.

Read Romans 3:21-26 and Romans 9:30-33. So PLEASE NOTE: THE ARK of THE COVENANT cannot be SEPERATED into TWO PIECES, it forms ONE PERFECT UNIT:

  1. The ARK and its contents in the TORAH is taught to us as part of the OLD TESTAMENT (the FIRST COVENANT). John 1:17a says: “For the TORAH was given through MOSES…”; and
  1. The MERCY seat, although it existed in the OLD TESTAMENT as part of the FIRST COVENANT, the blood of animals was only a temporary cover for sins, until the BLOOD of the PERFECT LAMB came to cover our sins, once and for all, as part of the NEW COVENANT as well as the TORAH now being WRITTEN, not on STONE TABLETS, but in a believer’s HEART, not with INK, but with the (HOLY) SPIRIT of the LIVING GOD (read 2nd Corinthians 3:3, Jeremiah 31:31-33, Ezekiel 36:26, Hebrews 8:10 and 10:16). We read in John 1:17b “GRACE and TRUTH came through YESHUA the MESSIAH.” THIS IS THE NEW TESTAMENT OF GOD THE FATHER according to which we as HIS CHILDREN inherit ETERNAL LIFE).

Please note: THEREFORE, BOTH the OLD TESTAMENT and THE NEW TESTAMENT are equally RELEVANT! IT FORMS ONE PERFECT FULFILLED COVENANT required for SALVATION and ENTRY INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD THE FATHER!

And in Hebrews 11 we read about all the FAITHFUL people of YHVH and in verse 7 we read: “By TRUSTING (believing, having faith), NOAH, after receiving DIVINE WARNING (from YHVH Himself) about things as yet UNSEEN, was filled with HOLY FEAR and BUILT an ARK (he took ACTION based on BELIEVING the WORDS of YHVH, meaning he OBEYD YHVH) to SAVE his household. Through his TRUSTING (believing, having faith), he put the world under condemnation (blame/ liability, conviction because they DID NOT BELIEVE the WORDS of GOD Noah shared with them) and (Noah) RECEIVED the RIGHTEOUSNESS (blamelessness) that comes from TRUSTING (belief, faith, hope).

The Complete Jewish Study – Insight for Jews and Christians explains: RIGHTEOUSS BEHAVIOR condemns (judges) sin. With other words, it makes those who behaves UNRIGHTEOUSS, but had the OPPORTUNITY and CHOSE NOT to LISTEN to the WORDS of GOD, liable (accountable/ guilty) and therefore they PERSECUTE the RIGHTEOUSS.

And that is the reason why we read in:

Matthew 5:10-12 Yeshua our Messiah says: “How BLESSED are those who are PERSECUTED because they PURSUE RIGHTEOUSNESS! For the KINGDOM of HEAVEN is theirs. How BLESSED are you when people INSULT you and tell all kinds of vicious lies about you because you FOLLOW ME! REJOICE, BE GLAD, because your REWARD in heaven is great – they persecuted the prophets before you in the same way.” (Also read Yeshua’s warning about the end times in Matthew 24:9).

And in John 7:7 Yeshua said the world hates Him because He keeps telling it how wicked its ways are and in John 15:19 Yeshua tells us if the world hates us we must REMEMBER it hated Him first and the reason for the world hating believers is because believers belong to Him and not to the world.

We further read about NOAH in 1st Peter chapter 3:18-22 saying: “For the Messiah Himself died for sins, once and for all, a RIGHTEOUSS PERSON on behalf of unrighteous people, so that HE MAY BRING YOU TO GOD (the Father). HE was PUT TO DEATH IN THE FLESH (meaning: His body died) but BROUGHT TO LIFE by the (HOLY) SPIRIT; and in THIS FORM HE WENT and made a proclamation to the IMPRISONED spirits, to THOSE WHO WERE DISOBEDIENT long ago, in the DAYS of NOAH, when God waited patiently during the BUILDING of the ARK, in which a FEW PEOPLE – to be specific, EIGHT – were DELIVERED by means of WATER. This also prefigures what DELIVERS us now, the WATER of BAPTISM (Peter is referring here to dying to the OLD FLESH/ the SINFUL NATURE, using water baptism as a symbol of being buried with Yeshua, forming part of FEAST SEASON 1: FEAST 2, UNLEAVENED BREAD and being raised as a NEW PERSON with Yeshua the Messiah and being filled with the Holy Spirt, representing FEAST SEASON 1: FEAST 3: FIRST FRUITS).

And Peter further explains in verse 21b-22 the water immersion (baptism) “…which is not the removal of dirt from the body, but one’s PLEDGE TO KEEP A GOOD CONCIENCE TOWARD GOD through the RESURECTION of YESHUA the MESSIAH (keeping your MIND obedient to YESHUA the MESSIAH, therefore to the WORD of GOD as Paul also explains in 2 Corinthians 10:4-6). Meaning when we died with Yeshua the Messiah to our OLD NATURE and we are raised with Him to a NEW LIFE as a NEW PERSON we FOLLOW HIM IN OBEDIENCE TO THE WORD and overtime we learn to THINK LIKE HIM, therefore WE DEVELOP THE MIND of YESHUA as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2:16.

And Peter again refers to NOAH in 2nd Peter 2:5 saying: God “…did not spare the ancient world; on the contrary, HE preserved (looked after, protected) NOAH, a herald (a representative) of RIGHTEOUSNESS, with SEVEN OTHERS, and brought the FLOOD upon a world of ungodly (wicked) people.”

So here we see a clear demonstration of Psalm 1:6 and Proverbs 11:21, God SPARES the RIGHTEOUSS and He DESTROYS the wicked. Also read 2nd Peter 3:12-13.

Next, we will look at:

2. LOT

In Genesis 13:1-18 we read about Lot, the son of Abraham’s brother, who travelled with Abraham to the Negev, but the land could not support both of them with all their flocks and herds and tents. Moreover quarrelling arose between Abraham and Lot’s herdsmen. Therefore Lot separated from Abraham and moved eastward near Sodom. And we read in verse 13 the men of Sodom were evil, committing great sins against YHVH.

And we read in Genesis 18 three men visiting Abraham and they told Abraham and Sarah that they will have a son during the same time the following year. One of the men is indicated as YHVH talking to Abraham (we know this must have been Yeshua, the bodily form of YHVH as explained in previous messages). And we read in verses 20-21: “YHVH said, ‘The OUTCRY (possibly through Lot! Read 2nd Peter 2:6-10) against Sodom and Gomorrah is SO GREAT and their sin so serious that I will now go down and see whether their deeds warrant the outcry that has reached Me…’”. And we further read in verse 22: “The men (referring to the two angels with YHVH) turned away from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before YHVH.”

Now REMEMBER, Abraham knew Lot lived in Sodom. And therefore we read from verses 23-26: “Abraham approached and said: Will You actually sweep away the RIGHTEOUSS with the wicked? Maybe there are fifty RIGHTEOUSS people in the city; will You actually sweep the place away, and NOT FORGIVE it for the sake of FIFTY RIGHTEOUSS who are there? Far be it from You to do such a thing – to kill the RIGHTEOUSS along with the wicked, so that the RIGHTEOUSS and the wicked are treated alike! Far be it from You!” Shouldn’t the JUDGE of all the earth DO what is JUST? YHVH said, ‘If I find in Sodom fifty who are RIGHTEOUSS, then I WILL FORGIVE the WHOLE PLACE FOR THEIR SAKE.” And in verses 27-33 Abraham asked what if there is fife less, and YHVH said:  ‘I won’t destroy it if I find forty five, then Abraham asked for 40, then for 30, then for 20 and then for 10 and YHVH confirmed even if ONLY TEN RGHTEOUSS people were found in Sodom, He will not destroy the city. Thereafter YHVH went His way and Abraham returned to his place.

And we read in Genesis 19:2-3 Lot showed hospitality and kindness to the two men (whom he did not know at the time were angels) and He tried to protect them against harm (this remind us of Romans 12:13 encouraging us to practice hospitality (friendliness, kindness, generosity towards other people, especially to people who belongs to God and in Hebrews 13:2 we are reminded to show hospitality to strangers for they may be angels without us knowing it! In all probability remembering Genesis 19:2-3). It is therefore clear in an evil community, Lot aspired to remain steadfast and to uphold moral values.

In Genesis 19:7 we read that Lot tried to talk the evil men out of their evil deeds to cause harm to the two men (the angels). And in verses 12-13 the angels asked Lot: “Do you have any people besides yourself? Whomever you have in the city – son-in-law, your sons, your daughters – BRING THEM OUT OF THIS PALCE; because we are going to DESTROY it. YHVH has become aware of the GREAT OUTCRY against them, and YHVH has sent us to DESTROY it.” So here we see again, just as in the case of NOAH that Abba Father is willing to save the FAMILY of a RIGHTEOUSS PERSON (we see the same in the case of Rahab the prostitute, who by FAITH did not perish with those who were DISOBEDIENT, because she helped the people of God and we read in Joshua 6:17 & 25 – her father’s household and all who belonged to her was saved by Joshua when they demolished Jericho, also read Hebrews 11:31 and James 2:25).

In Genesis 19:14–21 we read that Lot went out to speak to his sons-in-law but they didn’t take him seriously. The next morning the angel told Lot to hurry and to take his wife and two daughters with him – “YHVH was being MERCIFUL to him – and the angels led them, leaving them outside the city and instructing them to FLEE for their LIVES and not to look BEHIND them, not to STOP ANYWHERE in the PLAIN, but ESCAPE to the HILLS! Otherwise they will be swept away. Lot then asked for mercy and he was permitted to flee to a nearby small city called Zoar. This reminds one of the instruction of Yeshua in Matthew 24:15-21 relating to destruction coming as part of YHVH’s future JUDGEMENT of the world.

And we further read in Genesis 19:23-26 “By the time Lot had come to Zoar, the sun had risen over the land. Then YHVH caused SULFUR and FIRE to rain down upon Sodom and Gomorrah from YHVH out of the sky. He overthrew those cities, the entire plain, all the inhabitants of the cities and everything growing in the ground”. But Lot’s wife (did not listen to the angels) and looked back from behind him, and she became a column (pillar) of salt. Again it makes on think of the importance of Paul’s words in Philippians 3:13 “…I forget what is BEHIND me and strain forward toward what lies ahead,..” There comes a time where we must loosen (untie, release) ourselves from the PAST including from old traditions, wrong doctrines we were taught, sinful pleasures, unforgiveness and bitterness and LOOK AHEAD and MOVE FORWARD to PURSUE the PURPOSE GOD has with our lives.

So again we see that Lot DID what he was TOLD, He OBEYED the WORD of GOD spoken to him by the angels and he and his daughters were saved.

2nd Peter 2:6-10 God “…condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, reducing them to ashes and ruin, as a WARNING to those in FUTURE who would LIVE UNGODLY (wicked) LIVES; but HE RESCUED LOT, a RIGHTEOUSS MAN who was distressed by the debauchery of those unprincipled people; for the wicked deeds which that RIGHTEOUSS MAN saw and HEARD, as he LIVED among them, TORMENTED his RIGHTEOUSS HEART day after day. So YHVH knows how to RESCUE the GODLY from TRIALS and how to hold the wicked until the DAY of JUDGEMENT while continuing to PUNISH them, especially those who follow their OLD NATURES in LUST for FILTH (lewdness/ coarseness/ vulgarity/ profanity/ cursing/ swearing , immorality/ depravity, rudeness, obscenity/ impoliteness, offensiveness/ nastiness/ unpleasantness) and who DESPISE (loathe/ dislike, hate) AUTHROTIY.

And in Genesis 19:30-36 we read: “Lot went up from Zoar and lived in the hills with his two daughters, because he was afraid to stay in Zoar. He and his daughter’s lived in a cave. The firstborn said to the younger, ‘Our father is old, and there isn’t a man on earth to come in to us in the manner customary in the world. Come, let’s have our father drink wine, then we’ll sleep with him, and that way we’ll enable our father to have descendants. So they did that and we read in verses 37-38 ”The older one gave birth to a son and called him Moab; he is the ancestor of Moab (the Moabites) to this day. The younger also gave birth to a son, and she called him Ben-Ammi; he is the ancestor of the people of Ammon (the Ammonites) to this day. And we know this is incest and is prohibited by God (read Leviticus 18) and both the Moabites and the Ammonites were enemies of the ISRAELITES.

And we read in Zephaniah chapter 1 we read a prophecy about the JUDGEMENT on the WHOLE EARTH on the DAY of YHVH (referring to Judgement Day) and in chapter 2 we read Judah (the Southern Kingdom) will be JUDGED along with the nations and they are summoned to REPENT. And in verse 8-11 Moab and Ammon are indicated as enemies of Judah and God says: “I have heard the insults of Moab and the taunts of the people of Amon, how they reviled (hated, detested) MY PEOPLE and boasted of expanding their territory. Therefore as I live, says YHVH-TZVAOT (the God of Angel Armies), the GOD of ISRAEL, Moab will become like Sodom and the people of Amon like Gomorrah, a land covered with nettles and salt pits, DESOLATE FOREVER. The REMNANT of MY PEOPLE will PLUNDER them, the SURVIVORS in My nations will inherit them. This is why they will earn their pride, for having reviled and boasted against the people of YHVH-TZVAOT (the God of Angel Armies). YHVH will be FEARSOME against them, for he will make all the earth’s (small letter) gods waste away.”

Please note: God has mercy on ALL PEOPLE from ALL NATIONS, we later see that Ruth, who was a MOABITE, chose to follow her mother in law, Naomi back to ISREAL and she accepted the GOD of ISRAEL as her GOD (Ruth 1:16-17) and she DID what Naomi told her to do in alignment with GOD’s WORD and she married Boas and they had a son, called Obed, who was the grandfather of David, the line through which Yeshua our Messiah was born on earth! (read Ruth 4:17, 22 and Matthew 5:1).

It is therefore clear God SPARED Lot and his family because of LOT’s RIGHTEOUSNESS, although neither his wife, nor his daughters proved to be righteous. But we later see Lot’s willingness, like in the case of Noah, to drink alcohol to a point of losing control of his actions. Something that the Word of God forbids, because we clearly see the devastating of results on the descendants  of both Noah, through Ham and his son Canaan who was cursed as well Lot’s descendants through his daughters, the Moabites and Ammonites acted as Israle’s ENEMIES and gave Israel endless trouble.

Paul gives us the following good advice in Ephesians 5:18 “Don’t get drunk with wine, because it makes you lose control. Instead,

  • keep on being filled with (the Holy) Spirit –
  • sing Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs to each other;
  • sing to Master Yeshua and make music in your heart to Him;
  • always GIVING THANKS for EVERYTHING to GOD THE FATHER in the NAME of Master Yeshua the Messiah.”

And we know drunkenness is a characteristic of the flesh/ the old sinful nature that still needs to be put to DEATH (read Galatians 5:21 and 1st Peter 4:3). Also read the warning in Isaiah 5:11, Proverbs 23:29-35 and Yeshua our Messiah encourages us in Luke 21:34 to “…KEEP WATCH on yourselves, or your HEARTS will become dulled by carousing (partying, celebrations), DRUNKENESS and the worries of everyday living and that (capital letter) DAY will be sprung (launched) upon you suddenly like a TRAP! For it will close in on EVERYONE, no matter where they live, throughout the WHOLE WORLD. STAY ALERT, ALWAYS PRAYING that you will find the STRENGTH to ESCAPE the things that will happen and to STAND in the presence of the Son of Man.”

As in the case of Noah and Lot all RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE should heed the warning: “Let no man boast, except, boasting in YHVH” and should remain humble and repent daily for accidental sins.

This is an IMPORTANT WARNING for us as BELIEVERS TODAY, even if we are willing to HEAR the MESSAGE, the GOOD NEWS of the KINGDOM of YHVH, UNDERSTANDS it and BEAR FRUIT of RIGHTEOUSNESS we have to STAY HUMBLE and AT THE FEET OF YESHUA our MESSIAH at ALL TIMES, being alert to the voice of the HOLY SPIRIT. KNOWING that our FLESH and Satan and his evil forces will tempt us all of our earthly lives and they will accuse us and ask Abba Father to TEST us (read Job 1:6-12, 2:1-6, Luke 22:31 and Revelation 12:10). And therefore it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, NEVER to get COMFORTABLE and definitely not PROUD with our positions as BELIEVERS. Paul warned believers in 1st Corinthians 10:11-12 to learn from the historical events in the WORD and “Therefore, let anyone who THINKS he is standing up be careful not to fall!”

We also learn from Revelation 12:11 and 17 and Revelation 14:12 how we DEFEAT the Accuser (Satan), namely:

  1. With the BLOOD of the LAMB, FAITH in Yeshua our Messiah who died for our sins, and
  2. The witness of our message, the GOOD NEWS of SALVATION through Yeshua the Messiah, and
  3. OBEYING the COMMANDS of GOD the FATHER, and
  4. Even when facing physical death, not clinging to life, because we know we have ETERNAL LIFE.
